Menachem Froman (1945-2013) was the rabbi of the West Bank settlement of Tekoa and one of the most iconoclastic rabbis in contemporary Israel. For most of his career, he advocated peace with the Palestinians, and famously stated that if a two-state solution was achieved, he would happily be a citizen of the State of Palestine. We will look at a series of Froman’s published writings on Zionism and contemporary Israel and explore his idiosyncratic approach, which I call “Religious Post-Zionism.”
