David E. Kaufman

David E. Kaufman is a scholar of American Jewish History, and has taught for 20+ years at Hebrew Union College/LA and Hofstra University. He has published Shul with a Pool and Jewhooing the Sixties. The latter book is an in-depth examination of Jews and Jewish identity in American popular culture focusing on the first half of the 1960s, specifically on the roles of Sandy Koufax, Lenny Bruce, Bob Dylan and Barbra Streisand. David now devotes himself to public history education. He is the founding director of "NEW YORK JEW: Center for New York Jewish History, Culture, and Community," an online resource center. David is also a facilitator of Jewish educational tourism in NYC.
